The Match '08
What is the Match?First, the Match is simply a friendly competition and a way to get to know some other people in RUF. The purpose of this game is NOT to help you "find love" or to make matches of couples. You are on your own for that.
In the Match, couples will compete against other couples in scored competition. For example: In the first round, two couples will go bowling on a "double date". At the end of the date, each couple will report their score (see below on how to report score). These scores will determine who advances to the next round of the game. In each subsequent round of the game, the couples will be "reshuffled" for another round of dates in another scored competition. This will continue for about 3-4 weeks until we are able to declare a male and female winner, who will each be awarded a prize as the Match Champions.
How does the Match work?
Once you have signed up to play the Match, you will be paired with someone of the opposite sex for each round through which you advance in the game. Guys will have one week to call the girl that they have been paired with to set up a time of the week to go on their assigned "match". These "matches" will always be with another couple that is also playing the game. Each week, on a double date, you will be competing in some kind of scored competition in order to advance to the next round of the game.
When does the Match take place?
Due to the weekly schedule of RUF activities, each round of the tournament will begin on a Wednesday and end seven days later on a Wednesday. The couples will have this amount of time to go on their "match" and complete their scored activity. The scores must be reported no later than the following Wednesday at 5:00PM. Failure to report your scores by this time will exclude you from continuing in the game.
What are the rules for the Match?
The rules of the Match are as follows:
• Guys are required to call the girl they are paired with to set up their double date for that week's competition.
• Absolutely no single dates. Every date must be a double date with another couple. There are no exceptions to this rule.
• Each couple will be responsible for setting up their double date with another couple that is playing the game.
• Every date will be Dutch. This means that on every date, both guy and girl will pay for themselves respectively. This also means that both guy and girl will meet at the place of the date in their own transportation. (No riding together to or from the destination.)
• Scoring. At the conclusion of the match and scored competition, each couple must email their scores to samtaaffe@gmail.com or laurenbabbitt@gmail.com in order to determine who will advance to the next round.
• Failure to comply with any of these rules results in immediate withdrawal from the competition.
