RUF Spring 2006- God's Secret- A Study Through Ephesians
There are no more fundamental questions that you can ask in life
than the following: What is true? and What does it matter? The first
question is a question about the nature of things: what has happened?
is there anything to be excited about? does life mean anything? The
second question deals with what we do: how shall i live? what guides
me? what is my duty to my fellow man?
The Apostle Paul takes on these questions in his letter to the
Ephesians. The first half of the book focuses on the first question:
what is true? In it, he centers his exposition around the one thought
that God is doing something in human history, that he has purposes for
the world and for his people that if he were to have told it to the Old
Testament saints, they wouldn't have believed it.
In the second half of the book, he takes on the question: what does it matter? There he goes through the lifestyle characteristics of someone who has come to know and love the truths laid out in the first three chapters. The result is nothing short of astounding.
