Outreach Team
Purpose: to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere at all RUF events, to creatively approach inviting and introducing RUF to students who are either new to RUF or have never been before. This includes visitor follow-up and greeting at RUF.
Suggested Responsibilities
• Be aware of what is going on socially in RUF. Who are the ‘groups’ and what is the outsider’s perception of them? Encourage these groups to have an outward focus.
• Greeters: 1) have a group of greeters doing just that at every RUF (about 10 for a three week period maybe), 2) be early to meetings and do crowd control (getting in seats with the first song starts, etc.), 3) be responsible for name tags.
• Visitor follow-up: keep track of names of new people that come to RUF (from sign up sheets, NOT by intuition), either call visitors or drop a note in their mailbox to thank them for coming and fill them in on future activities (conferences, activities, etc.). Let the small group team know about folks looking for small groups.
• Organize “official RUF contact” with other groups on campus. Contact and invite groups to sing or play at RUF (ONLY at the campus minister’s discretion…)
• Organize outreach to international students on campus (possibly in coordination with the Navigators: Bill Mackenzie) through things such as English partners, etc.
